Tsumeb is the Type Locality

Extremely rare. The level from which the type specimen was recovered is not recorded, but it is almost certainly from the second oxidation zone.

  • Supergene
  • 2nd Oxidation Zone

Paragenetic and General Notes

According to Keller and Bartelke (1982), on the type specimen o'danielite is associated with a pink manganoan koritnigite, water-clear needles of prosperite, green conichalcite and cuprian adamite.

Keller et al. (1981) proposed the following paragenetic sequence:  conichalcite >> adamite >> o'danielite >> prosperite >> koritnigite.

A second paragenesis, believed to have been found on 46 Level in the third oxidation zone, comprises green o'danielite, with blue stranskiite, on quartz.  The example shown on this page is from this occurrence.
