Paragenetic and General Notes

Karibibite is recorded in the RRUFF Database as occurring at Tsumeb (retrieved from:  http://rruff.info/karibibite/display=default/R060380  07/12/2015), but the validity of karibibite has not been confirmed in the peer-reviewed literature.

Karibibite is readily confused with ludlockite, which it resembles closely in terms of both colour and habit.  On analysis many specimens labelled as "karibibite from Tsumeb" turn out to be ludlockite; however, karibibite has been analytically verified on specimens from the collections of Chris Amo (USA), Mark Feinglos (USA) and Bill Pinch (USA) (Chris Amo, personal communication to M.Southwood, 2016).
