Agardite-(Ce)

Chemistry: CeCu2+6(AsO4)3(OH)6.3H2O
Size: 15 mm (FOV)
Owner: Chris Amo
Photographer: John Schneider

Agardite-(Ce) is a rare mineral at Tsumeb, but quite a distinctive one.  In this specimen acicular, yellow-green crystals of agardite (to 3 mm) form a rosette-like group on a contrasting matrix of brownish calcite.   The rare element content of this specimen has not been determined, but it is assumed to be agardite-(Ce).  (Note that agardite-(Y) is of questionable status at Tsumeb.)
