Alamosite

Chemistry: PbSiO3
Size: 1.5 mm (FOV)
Owner: Brent Thorne
Photographer: Brent Thorne

This photograph shows a colourless, transparent, terminated single crystal of alamosite (0.7 mm; XRD-confirmed).

The alamosite is associated with melanotekite and anglesite, although these minerals are not well-seen in this photograph.

Alamosite typically occurs in fibrous bundles of sub-parallel crystals; well-terminated single crystals such as the one in this photograph are relatively uncommon.
