Anglesite

Mineral: Anglesite
Chemistry: PbSO4
Size: 75 mm
Owner: Harvard University (Karabacek Collection)
Photographer: Malcolm Southwood

Composite, diamond-shaped crystals of milky anglesite (to 55 mm).  Much of the large anglesite crystal is a almost salmon-pink in colour, presumably due to included iron oxides (?). Locally, sub-mm inclusions of black relict sulphide are also present.

The specimen is from the Karabacek Collection (number not recorded), and is specimen number 93650 in the MGMH catalogue.  It is from the first oxidation zone at Tsumeb.
