Austinte

Chemistry: CaZn(AsO4)(OH)
Size: 49 mm; (Close-up FOV 25 mm)
Owner: Mariusz Oleszczuk
Photographer: Mariusz Oleszczuk

Sub-mm crystals of sharp, well-formed, vitreous green austinite (XRD verified), associated with a little conichalcite (XRD verified) on a sliver of massive sulphide.  The colour indicates that this is a cuprian variety of austinite, although the copper content of this specimen has not been determined.

This is a rich example of a relatively rare mineral, formerly in the collection of Karlheinz Grosch (Germany).
