Baryte

Mineral: Baryte
Chemistry: BaSO4
Size: 120 mm
Owner: The Tsumeb Museum, Tsumeb, Namibia
Photographer: Malcolm Southwood

An isolated group of treacle-coloured baryte crystals (to 25 mm) on a matrix of grey dolostone breccia which, apart from the baryte, appears to be unmineralised. This is a large baryte crystal by Tsumeb standards, with fine colour, lustre and translucency.
