Baryte, (w. Smithsonite)

Mineral: Baryte, Smithsonite
Chemistry: BaSO4
Size: 53 mm

Photographer: Malcolm Southwood

A tabular crystal of honey-brown baryte (16 mm), is associated with composite crystals of colourless-white smithsonite. Some "shards" of residual sulphide are present in the matrix.  The baryte appears to pre-date the smithsonite.

The specimen was recovered from 6 Level and is number 385 in the Wilhelm Klein collection.
