Calcite, (on Dolomite)

Mineral: Calcite, Dolomite, Duftite
Chemistry: CaCO3
Size: 60 mm
Owner: Mariusz Oleszczuk
Photographer: Mariusz Oleszczuk

Sharp, milky-white rhombs of calcite (to 12 mm) resting on a shard of dolomite "cast" that appears to have crystallised over an undentified, but crystallised substrate - possibly calcite (?) - that has subsequently dissolved away.

Much of the surface of the dolomite is pinkish to red in colour, probably due to the presence of hematite (?) inclusions, but with localised blushes of green, apparently due to a selective dusting of duftite (?).
