Calcite, (w. Cuprite and Malachite)

Chemistry: CaCO3
Size: 35 mm
Owner: John Schneider
Photographer: John Schneider

A druse of rhombohedral calcite crystals (to 4 mm) coloured bright orange-red by microscopic inclusions of cuprite. Sparse, radial aggregates of malachite have developed on the calcite, providing a striking colour contrast.
