Calcite, (w. Dioptase and Duftite)

Mineral: Calcite, Dioptase, Duftite
Chemistry: CaCO3
Size: 80 mm
Owner: Mariusz Oleszczuk
Photographer: Mariusz Oleszczuk

Milky-white rhombs of calcite (to 10 mm), apparently randomly orientated to form a loosely intergrown aggregate. Microcrystalline crusts of apple-green duftite (XRD-confirmed), accompanied by small crystals of blue-green dioptase, have formed selectively on some of the calcite faces.

Although there is no specific provenance for this specimen it is almost certainly from the second oxidation zone.
