Calcite, (w. Dioptase and Duftite)

Mineral: Calcite, Dioptase, Duftite
Chemistry: CaCO3
Size: 106 mm
Owner: Mariusz Oleszczuk
Photographer: Mariusz Oleszczuk

Colourless rhombohedral crystals of calcite (to 13 mm), richly included with microscopic blue-green dioptase, and with somewhat less abundant yellow-green duftite (XRD verified).

The duftite appears to form a discreet layer in the calcite crystals, while the dioptase seems to be rather more dispersed.  The outer portions of the calcite rhombs are water-clear and highly transparent, so that the included minerals form well-defined phantoms in contrasting shades of green.
