Calcite, (w. Duftite)

Mineral: Calcite, Duftite
Chemistry: CaCO3
Size: 134 mm
Owner: Geoff Krasnov
Photographer: Geoff Krasnov

A large group of intergrown, colourless-white, calcite rhombs (to 25 mm).  The calcite crystals show darker, brownish cores due to inclusions of olive-green or brownish duftite (?), and a later generation of duftite (?) occurs as a powdery, pale yellowish-green dusting, on some of the calcite surfaces.

The specimen was formerly in the calcite collection of Tsumeb miner Eric Louw.
