Calcite, (w. Malachite and Dioptase)

Chemistry: CaCO3
Size: 89 mm
Owner: Geoff Krasnov
Photographer: Geoff Krasnov

A densely intergrown aggregate of colourless to white, translucent, calcite rhombs (to 4 mm).  Parts of the specimen show a blush of blue-green colour due to inclusions of dioptase, selectively distributed, but also at varying depths from the outer surface of the specimen.  Spheroidal sprays of dark-green malachite (to c. 5 mm) are sparsely distributed.
