Calcite

Chemistry: CaCO3
Size: 50 mm

Two large rhombs of milky-white calcite (to 25 mm) rest on a carbonate matrix that consists mainly of calcite and dolomite, but trimmed with sprays of dark-green acicular malachite crystals and aggregates of microcrystalline apple-green mottramite.  Both the malachite and mottramite are EDS confirmed.

The large calcite rhombs also host inclusions of native copper, although this is not readily apparent from these photographs.
