The last several days have been a time to catch up here and get some images posted to the web of new specimens found here at Tucson.  It was also time to get ready for the main show which means then end of the 2005 Tucson experience is near.

The first order of business is to get in line so that
you can unload your specimens and cases.

Once inside you see dealers working feverishly to things set up for the next day.  It is like being in a hive with hundreds of worker bees scurrying about getting glass cases erected and cleaned, specimens unboxed, lights placed correctly and so on.

In this shot the staff of Collector's Edge, Dave Bunk and
Renatto and Adriana Pagano can be seen getting things ready.

Display cases are also a part of the show here in Tucson.

Dave Wilbur is seen here putting in a display of polished agates.

John McLean with Bill Larson in the background are setting glass cases ready.

Here's Andy Seibel bending over to get the next rock.  Jerry Rosenthal (working on the lights)
is Andy's helper in this and other shows Andy sets up at.  In the background you can
see Terry Huizing and the brightly lit dome on the left belongs to Isaias Casanova

Jordi Fabre (left) was seen at the snack bar.... frequently through out the day!

Here's Dan Weinrich's booth at lunch time...

One of the guys to get things done first was George Witters (right) with his assistant Tom.

George had a fine hoard of red beryls on display. These have become next to impossible to find in a quantity since the late 1990s when John Seibel had a large number available.  They disappeared quickly and then there were none available from anywhere. I saw this group and told George to box them up and bought them all for future updates.

Set up day is also a chance to catch up with folks.  Here Scott Werschky (right) is talking with Dave Bunk

A new find of tourmaline was made this past summer in Maine at the Mount Mica property.
Cal Graeber and Leonard Himes are handling the material which includes some rather
enormous tourmalines and numerous bi colored crystals.

Here are two large crystals from the new find. The piece on the left is 20 cm tall
The specimen on the right is about 20cm across also.

More to come from the main show and my final take on the 2005 Tucson Show in the last report.
